Tensions, disruptions, and dialogues in times of crises and uncertainties across Latin America and the Caribbean

May 11 and 12, 2022 

The student committee of the Latin American Studies Network of Montreal (UQAM, University of Montreal, Concordia and McGill) is organizing its seventh student conference to be held on May 11, 2022 at the University de Montreal. The theme of this multidisciplinary and quadrilingual colloquium will be: Latin America and the Caribbean: dialogues in times of crisis and uncertainty. Students will have the opportunity to present their research in a panel moderated by a specialist of Latin America (student or professor) in one of the four languages of RÉLAM (French, English, Spanish, Portuguese). This conference is an excellent opportunity for students to exchange ideas and obtain valuable feedback from other students, professors, and researchers. 

Drawing from a multidisciplinary approach, the colloquium addresses the different dimensions of the notions of uncertainty and crisis (including the economic, health, social, ecological, and (geo)political dimensions, among others) and asks about their relevance in the socio-political context of Latin America.

Tensiones, disrupciones y diálogos en tiempos de crisis e incertidumbres a lo largo de América Latina y el Caribe 

11 y 12 de mayo del 2022 

El comité estudiantil de la Red de Estudios Latinoamericanos de Montreal (UQAM, Universidad de Montreal, Concordia y McGill) organiza su séptimo coloquio estudiantil, que tendrá lugar el 11 y 12 de mayo de 2022 en la Universidad de Montreal. El tema de este coloquio multidisciplinar y cuatrilingüe es: “Tensiones, disrupciones y diálogos en tiempos de crisis e incertidumbres a lo largo de América Latina y el Caribe”. Los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de presentar su investigación en un panel moderado por un(a) especialista (estudiante o profesor(a)) de América Latina, en uno de los cuatro idiomas de RÉLAM (francés, inglés, español, portugués). Este coloquio es una excelente oportunidad para que las(os) estudiantes intercambien ideas y reciban retroalimentaciones de parte de otros(as) estudiantes, profesores(as) e investigadores(as). 

Este coloquio abordará desde una perspectiva pluridisciplinaria las diferentes dimensiones que pueden abarcar los conceptos de incertidumbre y de crisis utilizados para caracterizar la coyuntura mundial actual, y se pregunta por la pertinencia de su aplicación al contexto socio-político latinoamericano.
