Our organization

The Réseau d’Études Latino-américaines de Montréal (Latin American Studies Network of Montreal, or RÉLAM) was founded in the spring of 2014 by humanities and social science professors from four Montreal universities: Concordia, McGill, Université de Montréal, and UQAM. The principal mission of RÉLAM is to provide an inter-institutional and interdisciplinary network of cooperation and exchange pertaining to Latin American studies. RÉLAM hence seeks to offer professors, graduate students, as well as government and civil society practitioners a support structure to consolidate and expand existing collaborations on research and teaching, in addition to providing an impetus for the development of joint activities. In the spirit of inter-institutional cooperation that animates it, RÉLAM has established a system of governance that includes professors from the four universities, and which supposes significant student participation. RÉLAM now has over 250 members and 1400 affiliates.

The RÉLAM is also the only Canadian academic institution to be affiliated with CLACSO - The Latin American Council of Social Sciences.
