2018 CALACS Conference: ”The Americas: One or Many?”

RÉLAM is a proud partner of the annual conference of the Canadian Association for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CALACS) which will take place from May 16 to 18 2018, at Université du Québec à Montréal

The conference called “The Americas: One or Many?” comprises more than 60 panels and round-tables on different issues surrounding the following questions: one or many nations for a single state? A universal citizenship or group-based rights? A single Pan-American system or a grouping of regional blocks? But the tension between singular and plural, between unity and diversity, between what unites and what divides, passes through phenomena as diverse as artistic production, electoral representation, migration processes, social mobilization, normative frameworks, school education, and more.

When : May 16-18. Welcome and on-site registration will take place on May 16 at the entrance of the SH Pavilion from 8:30 am

Where: At the Sherbrooke (SH) Building at UQAM – 200 Sherbrooke Street West
